This summer, Tranquillity Camp marked a historic moment as we continue to commemorate our proud and long-lasting 106-year legacy. With the unveiling of our new brand positioning, Part of growing up. The best part., we honor generations of cherished memories while looking toward an exciting future. In 2025, we will celebrate 107 summers of traditions, friendships, and lifelong memories. For many, these moments have been made possible by the remarkable leadership of one extraordinary individual—Richie Lerner. Richie has played a pivotal role in shaping Tranquillity’s legacy.

Bidding Farewell to a Visionary Leader

After 29 remarkable years, Richie Lerner and his wife, Sherrie, are retiring from their leadership roles at Tranquillity Camp. A former camper himself, Richie’s leadership has shaped the camp’s legacy while preserving its many traditions. Together, Richie and Sherrie have expanded the camp’s facilities, deepened its sense of community, and ensured its continued excellence for generations to come. Together, Richie and Sherrie have been the backbone of our community, and their vision and dedication have touched every aspect of camp life:

• Welcoming 4,000 campers through our gates.
• Achieving a 70% increase in buildings and infrastructure.
• Inspiring a homegrown spirit, with 80% of the 1,500 counselors coming from Tranquillity’s ranks.

Richie’s visionary leadership has left a lasting mark, from creating iconic spaces like the Pearl Miller Sports Center, the Ropes Course, and the Pickleball Courts, to revitalizing beloved landmarks like the Roost and the Infirmary. Today, nearly every corner of Tranquillity reflects his passion and commitment to excellence. We are profoundly grateful to Richie and Sherrie for their years of dedication and service. And, while Richie and Sherrie will be greatly missed, we celebrate their well-deserved next chapter—filled with family time, beach days, and perhaps a few improved golf scores!

Homegrown Excellence

Tranquillity Camp will welcome a new Executive Director in 2025. After a thoughtful and unanimous decision, we are pleased to announce that longtime Tranquillity-ite Stacy (Cohen) Budkofsky will assume the role effective January 1, 2025. Her leadership ensures continuity, respect for tradition, and a renewed energy that will inspire future generations. More details about Stacy’s vision and leadership will be shared soon.

• Stacy’s deep roots at Tranquillity span three generations—as a camper, leader, and beloved community member.
• Her forward-thinking perspective and extensive experience as a camp director position her to carry the torch and honor the traditions that define Tranquillity.

Strategic Continuity with Evolution

This transition is not just historic—it’s seamless. Richie and Sherrie will remain in advisory roles through the 2025 camp session, offering mentorship and guidance to Stacy and the entire Tranquillity team. Their involvement will provide:

• Stability as leadership transitions to Stacy.
• A shared commitment to preserving Tranquillity’s values and traditions.

• Continued guidance to preserve Tranquillity’s cherished culture and mission.
